The aim of this badge is to provide primary care of a patient

Junior Candidates
Serve a cold drink to someone who is able to sit up in a chair (i.e. wash hands, place a table near the patient, get a tray and place the drink on it, serve drink, then clear all away)

Candidates
Make a patient who is able to sit up comfortable: i.e. serve a cold drink, place blanket round knees, get slippers and help put them on. Place magazines, glasses, pen and paper etc within easy reach of the patient

Junior Members
7-9 years to complete Nos. 1-4 only
9-11 years complete all

1. Know the normal temperature of the body
2. Know how to pour a dose of medicine
3. Know how to look after the hair
4. Know how to look after one’s own personal hygiene
5. Make a bed using hospital corners
6. Learn the care of the mouth

Members
11-13 years to complete 1-4
13-15 years complete all

1. Know the normal temperature of the body
2. Know how to pour a dose of medicine
3. Know how to look after the hair
4. Know how to look after one’s own personal hygiene
5. Make a bed using hospital corners
6. Learn the care of the mouth
7. Know the normal pulse rate for children and adults
8. Know the normal rate of respiration per minute
9. Know the normal temperature and be able to use and read a thermometer
10. Make a bed with a patient in it
11. Learn the daily routine care of a patient
