Countess of Meath

The countess was born on the 15th of March 1847 and named Mary Jane Maitland.

Her father was Admiral Thomas Maitland; 11th Earl of Lauderdale (Scotland).

Her mother was Amelia (née Young) Maitland; Countess of Lauderdale.

Mary Jane married Reginald Brabazon in 1868.
They had 6 children (4 boys and 2 girls).

She became the Countess of Meath on the 26th of May, 1887 when her husband became the 12th Earl of Meath.

The Countess of Meath served as the GFS central president from 1878 to 1894.

She died on the 4th November 1918 in Killruddery House, Bray, Co. Wicklow. Her final resting place is in the Christ Church Cemetery in Delgany, Co. Wicklow.
