Love in February – A message from GFS World President
Feb 1, 2025
“Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” – John 13 : 34
Dear friends
We are now taking our first steps into the month of February. What does it hold for us?
February, the second month of the Gregorian calendar, is named after the Latin word “februum,” which means purification. This symbolizes a fresh start. During the ancient Roman festival called “Februa,” people participated in rituals of purification and cleansing.
This month is rich in Biblical significance and focuses on themes of love, renewal and sacrifice. As Valentine’s Day approaches on the 14th, we are reminded of the importance of selfless love and spiritual reflection. It’s a time to celebrate not just romantic love, but also the love we share with family, friends and our communities.
Many people are hopefully waiting to experience love in its many forms. What are we doing about it? Let’s make an effort to share God’s love in the world, touch a life and make a difference – step by step.
Fun Fact : Did you know that an “Ice Cream For Breakfast” Day is officially celebrated on the first Saturday of February? This delightful tradition was started by a mother in the 1960s in New York, USA. So, why not enjoy some ice cream for breakfast today, February 1st ?! 🍦
